Inktober Day 10 - Buddha

I spent the last two days visiting friends north of me. When I was going up to visit the closer friend she wasn't going to be available until after 4:00 so I decided to google her town and find a place where I could sketch earlier in the day and avoid the traffic in the afternoon. The Chuang Yen Monastery in Carmel, NY popped up. It sounded interesting. The monastery supposedly has the largest indoor statue of a Buddha in the Western Hemisphere. It was big!

  1. Beautiful drawing, Joan. I'll have to tell my daughter about this place... she would love it.

    1. Thanks, Hilda. If I hadn't googled it I would never have known about it. But when I told my friend where I sketched she knew about it.

  4. Excellent sketch! I like the subtle shades of color you get from your Elegant Writer. Sometimes it looks pinkish, and other times it's bluish.

    1. Thanks, Tina. I like the shading too. If you blot it you get the pink color.

  5. A super sketch Joan - how nice to find somewhere interesting to work while waiting to visit your friend. The monastery sounds unusual.

    1. Val, I knew I would hit traffic if I went up to her house later in the afternoon, so this was a no-brainer. Thanks.
