Since I was away I am off to a late start getting my flower boxes on my patio done. I finally shopped for the plants but then it rained, and then I went into the city yesterday. Today it is cloudy and cool...a good day to do the job. So I decided before I made a big mess planting everything I would do a direct watercolor painting of some of the plants. Flowers and foliage seem to be easier to do directly in watercolor than buildings and people.

DeleteLovely florals Joan! I love when you paint people you see on your train rides. I am always amazed that you can turn those out so beautifully and so quickly given the short time you have available to capture the likeness!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sherry. Luckily when I do the train sketches I know most of the people will be there for a while if they are heading into Manhattan...the subway is another story. They get up and leave at any time.

DeleteA perfect subject for direct painting, Joan. I am sure they will look great in the flower boxes too. I imagine you will be doing more landscapes and flower paintings during the month as they will be easier. good luck!
