Captree View

One day last week I stopped at Captree State Park before I went to the beach. I wanted to sketch the Fire Island Lighthouse from across the water. I looked around for a spot where I could see over the foliage on the dunes, but was having trouble. Finally I came up with a plan. I put my beach chair on top of one of the stone benches along the boardwalk path and sat up there. That way I was raised up a little and was able to see better. I also attached my beach umbrella to the arm of the chair so I had a little shade. I must have looked like I was going to take off into the air. lol

  1. Wish I could have seen you perched up there! Sketchers come up with the best inventions to meet their needs. And it was worth it to get this lovely sketch!

  2. Great job, Joan! Did you use a resist to maintain the white of the gull feathers? It scares me to think of you teetering in a chair on a bench!
