Outside Starbucks

Last week the Patchogue Sketch Club met outside Starbucks on Main Street in Sayville. It was a beautiful, warm evening. We started sketching at 6 pm and by 6:30 it was nearly dark, so we finished by the light coming from the windows of Starbucks, and I had a little clip on flashlight that illuminated my paper a bit. Sketching late at night is getting to be a challenge. Before you know it we will have to be indoors to do our evening sketching. Ugh! This was done in my Stillman & Birn journal.

  4. A lovely scene here, especially considering the difficulties with the light etc. Love the figures!! Going back, I find the Israel sketches very interesting, you have got a certain atmosphere with them which indicates their geography and, another colourful, vibrant picture of the farm, it's so cheerful!! I think that's it. Great stuff Joan. Phew!!!

  5. I was sketching outside Starbucks just today... but in the daylight! Night is definitely falling earlier these days. You managed to get a nice sketch, despite that!

  6. What a super sketch, Joan. I love it and find myself I was relaxing right there with these patrons.

  7. Chris - Thanks. This was done on half of a 5 x 8 sketchbook pages.

Hilda - LOL The good think is that you can find a Starbucks almost anywhere. They are good places to sketch.

Kevin - Thanks so much for your kind words about my work!

Miata - Thanks...again great minds think alike. We have a hard time at this time of year because some of the people work and can't get there earlier. We don't have many choices for indoor local venues. You seem to have so many.

Tina - Thanks. You have to sketch them before they finish those grande lattes. lol

  8. I am always amazed at the variety of places you find to sketch. I am sure you will miss doing this outdoors. Hope the weather stays nice a bit longer so you can enjoy painting in the great outdoors. Wonderful sketch of Starbucks...my kind of place to visit!

  10. Debbie - Thanks. I am having withdrawal symptoms since I haven't had a chance to sketch outdoors in 3 days! I think that is a record for me.

Polly - LOL Yes, they are so few and far between!
