Riverhead Farm

Yesterday was a beautiful, sunny day so I headed out east near Riverhead. It was too windy to sit outside so I sat in the car to paint. This is about 5 x 7.

  1. Dear Joan - catching up with your last posts...I had trouble downloading pictures when I went to post on Sunday too. Hope it is fixed now. I love this farm scene. Looks like you used that lovely ultramarine blue for the roof lines and shadows on the tree. This really sparkles Joan. Hope you are having a good day.

  3. Joan this is lovely, quiet and peaceful. Don't you just love painting trees in the winter, when they are nude and you can see each character and structure..... it's my favourite time of year.

  4. These grounds look much like our own. We've had very little snow out where I live and we're just all brown and black and dirty golds out here. Fortunately as an artist we can see the beauty of it though. Lovely, quiet, and peaceful are perfect descriptors (thanks Maggie) and I just find myself wondering at this farm family's life.

  5. Thanks so much everyone! Although winter isn't my favorite time of year, there is a certain beauty in the emptiness of the land and the subtle colors.
