I found this interesting building which is part of the Seatuck Environmental Center in Islip. It looks like it belongs in another world. This is 5 x 7.

  1. It does! What a find! I wonder what that building was before the EE Center? Awesome capture, Joan!

  2. WYou have got your perspective 100 percent correct.. I have such trouble with that and color values.. you make it look so easy, Joan! I need more time outside to sketch.. but not crazy about painting palm trees.. maybe I should learn to love them..

  3. Joan, great job. I have never seen this place. Very interesting. Your work looks great in Sayville.

    See you soon,

  4. I'm struck by how beautiful you've handled the grass in the yard. The whole piece is stunning, Joan. Well done!

  5. It is a beautiful place and you have captured the old world air of it so well!

  6. Lin - Thanks. First it was the summer home of some wealthy woman and she willed it to the Audibon Society. They used it for a while and then abandoned it. It was vandalized and then Suffolk County took it over and restored it.

Rose - Thanks so much! I'll happily come down and paint palm trees with you.

Joan - Thanks! I saw that we were hanging together.

Sherry - It is a pretty place and gorgeous on the inside. Thanks.

Brinda - I love old buildings. Thank you.
