Sunflower Field

My PALS plein air group went out to Riverhead on Tuesday and painted at a sunflower field at one of the north fork farms. I liked that there was a view of the barns in the background.
This is 8 x 10.

I also did a quick small 4 x 6 painting done directly in watercolor.

Beach Sketching

I love the assorted positions you see people in while at the beach.
These two ladies were relaxed an busy talking away.

I have been trying to continue my directly in ink sketches...mostly at the beach.
These are fun to do.

Captree View

One day last week I stopped at Captree State Park before I went to the beach. I wanted to sketch the Fire Island Lighthouse from across the water. I looked around for a spot where I could see over the foliage on the dunes, but was having trouble. Finally I came up with a plan. I put my beach chair on top of one of the stone benches along the boardwalk path and sat up there. That way I was raised up a little and was able to see better. I also attached my beach umbrella to the arm of the chair so I had a little shade. I must have looked like I was going to take off into the air. lol

Marina View

Last week the Patchogue Sketch Club met at a local marina in Patchogue.
Although the sunset never got a lot of color the view was still nice.

Wildflowers Revisited

On Tuesday my PALS plein air group returned to the wildflower field up at Avalon Preserve Stony Brook. I had to search around a bit to find a slightly different view than I have already painted.
I ended up painting under my small umbrella since it was so hot and my view had no shade...I was dripping wet just standing and painting. This is 8 x 10.
