Assorted Sketches

Last week we had a few rainy days, and I needed to get out to sketch. So I headed over to the mall and sketched at the food court. There are always models there.

The beach has good models too.

View from Sayville Beach

There are a few views if you sit on the tiny beach along the bay in Sayville. I usually sketch the trees and people in the other direction, but this day looked over the dunes to the Wet Pants Sailing Group's building.

The Portly Villager

The town of Sayville has some cute restaurants and stores. I've sketched The Portly Villager before, but it looked so home-town Americana when I passed recently that I had to sketch it again. I may go back and do a larger version of this since this one is 5 x 6.

Garden Sketches

Every other year the Sayville Garden Club and the Bellport Garden Club each sponsor a fundraising garden tour. My plein air group, PALS participates in each by having artists painting in the gardens during the tour. The Sayville group also has music in the gardens and asks the participating artists to come and view the gardens ahead of time and while there do a few quick sketches that can be used in the tour program. I visited 3 of the 6 gardens and did these sketches. The Sayville Garden Tour will be June 16th and I will be painting in 2 of the gardens, one in the morning and one in the afternoon.

Paper Doll Vintage Boutique

Last Wednesday my sketch group met in Sayville to sketch in the evening. We stayed on Main Street rather than going down by the water since it was cool out. We found a good spot that was out of the wind and had a good view of the Paper Doll Vintage Boutique (when traffic wasn't stopped in front of us).

Dune ATCs

One of my art groups is having an ATC exchange at the end of the month. I'm trying to get some of these tiny paintings done before the meeting, so I did two while I was at the beach the other day.

Carnival

I love how colorful everything usually is at the carnival. It was a cool day with showers expected, so I  did this from my mobile studio. It had a nice wide view.
