Islip Marina
Last week on one of our damp, drizzly days I went to the Islip Marina. I sat in my car to sketch this sailboat and a bit of the dock behind it. This was done in my Stillman & Birn Beta Sketchbook.

Animals
Over on the "Paper, Paint, Pencils, and Pens" blog we are sketching animals. I posted a few of them already, but here are more.
First is a crab done from a photo I took in Myrtle Beach, SC.
Then I did an odd looking duck with my water-soluble graphite and Inktense pencils.

Next is a goat from a local farm.
When we were in Ireland last year we saw a lot of sheep. On day when we were driving through Killarney National Park we came around a turn to find an entire flock of sheep and the sheepherder completely blocking the road. They surrounded our car. I felt like I was in a movie. LOL Of course my camera was in my bag, and by the time I got it out I could only see the sheep from the back. I did take a few photos anyway.
Since we aren't too far from the water, seagulls are a common sight.
This egret was also done from a photo I took in Myrtle Beach.
This elephant was done from a photo in the WetCanvas Reference Library by "maltman."
"Lisilk" provided the photo for this red eyed tree frog in the WetCanvas Reference Library.
This kangaroo was done from a photo in the WetCanvas Reference Library supplied by "skippigurl100."

Fantastic Gardens
The other day I headed over to Fantastic Gardens, a local nursery in Patchogue. They always have a nice collection of plants and flowers. I've sketched there before but I made sure to ask if it was OK. I don't want to be in the way and interfere with the business going on. Of course they didn't mind. This is one of the greenhouses and "check-out" building, so everyone that was there passed by and commented on my sketch. They were amazed that I had so much done in the short time they were shopping.
This was done in my Stillman & Birn Beta Sketchbook. I like that I was able to let it grow a bit across to the other page.

Crab Meadow
Last week I joined a few friends at Crab Meadown in Northport for a bit of painting.
The tide was really low so a lot of the sand was showing. It is a pretty spot.

Kayaks
This was sketched near the Bellport dock. I love colorful kayaks.

Once again this year I am participating in the Every Day in May Challenge (EDM).
For those of you who are unfamiliar with the challenge, it has been going on for several years.
A list of items to sketch is provided and you do one sketch each day. The sketches are posted on the EDM Flickr. com page and the EDM Facebook page.
