I have had some of my artwork in The Catbird Seat in Sayville for quite a while. Debbie's shop has a fun collection of artwork, clothing, vintage items, and things pertaining to the beach and Sayville. A while ago she said she would love it if I did a sketch of her shop. It is located on the main street of Sayville, but is in an awkward spot for me to sit and sketch it. I would have to be peeking between two parked cars across the normal traffic in the town. As I was passing through the other day I noticed that the parking spot directly across from The Catbird was empty. I pulled in and sat in my mobile studio to sketch, and included a lot of what was outside the store as well as inside the store. When I finished I brought it in to her and gave it to her as a gift. She was so touched! She said she's going to frame it and keep it forever.

One Tipsy Soldier
Today I dropped off all my remaining tiles and ornaments at the Catbird Seat in Sayville. Debi, the owner has sold a lot of my tiles this year and told me to bring over any that were left. Hopefully in the crunch before Christmas more of them will sell.
I had a few errands to run but I made sure to stop and do a sketch while I was out. I had passed this nursery in Ronkonkoma the other day. I liked the two inflatable soldiers...especially the tipsy one. lol I sat in my "mobile studio" to sketch this since today was a bit on the cold side.

Miracle on Main Street
Last night Sayville was supposed to have "Miracle on Main Street" which was scheduled to follow their morning holiday events, but due to the forecast of heavy rain they postponed it to tonight. I was planning to go to see what was happening there and stay for the Christmas tree lighting. Of course I took my sketchbook along. Santa and his entourage was set up along Main Street and had a big line waiting to visit with him. I stood and sketched some of them (I left out about 6 more elves). By the time I was finished I was too tired of standing and didn't stay for the tree lighting. Instead I headed over to The Catbird Seat, the store that is carrying some of my artwork and tiles, and visited with Debi the owner. She had some hot mulled wine that she was passing out to customers so that was a relaxing way to end my stop in Sayville.

Treasures from The Catbird Seat
My friend, Debi, recently relocated her shop, The Catbird Seat, to the middle of downtown Sayville. She sells work by local artists, refinished furniture, and assorted things that you fall in love with. Last Thursday was the official Grand Opening and ribbon cutting ceremony. As part of the day's celebration she asked artists to come and sketch or paint either inside or outside the shop. There were a lot of great things to sketch...and of course I couldn't make up my mind. lol I do have artwork hanging in her current show as well as a collection of matted pieces. Two of my matted pieces sold since she relocated.
