I did this sketch of downtown Sayville using some of Mark Taro Holmes' ink techniques. Being a watercolorist is is hard for me to not add color. lol Right now if it was on paper that would accept watercolor I would probably do that, especially since it is the next lesson in his class. I think I'm going to leave it as is. What do you think?
I think leaving it black and white is a nice change Joan! I love all the details and the building is really nicely drawn!
ReplyDeleteThat's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThere are enough darks to make it solid as it is. Looks great.
ReplyDeleteSo your next class introduces watercolor. I will look forward to seeing what you do.
It is wonderful just as it is!!! Beautiful details and light capture! Of course, you can always do an watercolor too with this great sketch as a guide for your contrasts and detail level!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Hilda. I may try another version and add color.
ReplyDeleteBrinda, good to see you here again. Thanks.
Julie, thanks so much!
Oty, thanks! I was thinking the same thing.
Joan the simplicity of black and white is lovely. Like you though I think I would want to add a touch of color. Your previous post has some super pen and ink sketches too. Your drawing skills are amazing. Hope you are having a great week.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Debbie. It is fun to work on pen & ink in addition to my watercolors.
