On Sunday one of my art associations had their holiday brunch in Bellport. When the brunch was over I headed to the next town, Brookhaven to find a spot to sketch. I went over by the Fireplace Boat Basin. It looked so inviting looking through the gate that I just pulled over on the side of the road and sketched. I used watercolors and a ink for this and it is about 5 x 6.
Sounds like a brilliant day, a brunch and painting time. Nice sketch Joan
ReplyDeleteDear Joan - what a great way to spend a Sunday. From the sketch I am thinking the peek through the gate really paid off well. Isn't it fun to see what is behind a gate or fence? Have a lovely day.
ReplyDeleteDid you paint this on location too? You find the best places to sketch. Or are your sketches making the places look like the best places to sketch? :)) love it.
ReplyDeleteLorraine - Thanks. It was a good day covering all bases.
ReplyDeleteDebbie - Thank you. I've been inside before but I really liked the view from the outside the way the light was.
Cris - Thanks. I have painted at this spot in the warmer weather with one of my painting groups a few times before. This time I sat in the car to paint.
Excellent sketch, Joan!! A very nice scene, with so many nice details...
ReplyDeleteThank you, Hilda! We have so many great places along the water on LI. We are very lucky.
ReplyDeletereally like this one, but like all of 'em actually. Love the way you handle buildings... :-)
