Happy Thanksgiving again! I hope everyone had a great time
if you were celebrating here in the USA.
I knew I wouldn't get out to sketch or paint today since we were going to dinner at my sister-in-law's house. Instead, this morning I parked myself on the couch and watched the 87th Annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade with my sketch pad in hand. A great deal of the parade moved past just too fast, but I was able to sketch a few things.
I started with a member of one of the marching bands, then a girl in the crowd, Al Roker,
the main entrance of Macy's where all the entertainment performed, a cheerleader...
the Snoopy balloon (due to the windy conditions the huge balloons were only allowed to float about half the usual distance up...
and a dancing gift box.
This just proves that I will sketch anything. lol
I'm still picturing you sketching furiously while the parade goes by at warp speed. LOL! You managed some good sketches. I LOVE the Snoopy balloon!!! And if you weren't talking to me on the phone at the time, you might have gotten Buzz Lightyear too.
ReplyDeleteOh but I bet you had so much fun doing it! LOL Great job, Joan!! I used to watch the parade every year when I was growing up. Now? I don't have the patience for it! LOL
ReplyDeleteI'm very impressed, Joan....you must have been speed sketching!! Well done!!
ReplyDeleteMickey - Thanks. LOL I got as far as the shape of Buzz Lightyear's helmet and he was gone. You'll have to try it next year.
ReplyDeleteSherry - Thank you. I still enjoy it and don't think my Thanksgiving would be the same without it. We went to see the parade a few times when we were kids, so that is probably my connection to it.
Hilda - Thanks. I got the basic shapes and then did a bit from memory. The one of Macy's entrance they kept showing with every performance, so that was easy.
These are a ton of fun!
ReplyDeleteTina, thanks!!!
