It isn't easy to keep up with Inktober when I'm on vacation and want to use color. lol I have to admit that I sketched this in ink first and then later added color. How can you have a lobster sign without red?'ll repost it in color when I take photos of the paintings I've done here. I have seen this restaurant every time I've been in Provincetown, MA. Now I've sketched it but still haven't eaten in it.
Last Tuesday my PALS plein air group went back to the Japanese garden. I wanted to sketch a few things on a page to represent what was in the garden. First I painted the entry into the garden. The gentleman built the garden for his Japanese wife. They designed it together.
Here is how the page looked with the entrance on the left, then two smaller paintings, one of a Japanese stone lantern and one of the trees.
Like last week Andrew (2nd from the left) provided tea for us but we brought the cookies this time. He is such a sweet man. He loved the company and having people to talk to. We are hoping to get invited back in the spring.
I figured you were having difficulty resisting color during inktober! ;-) Lovely color at the garden, at least! By the way, I don't think it's cheating to add color after you take a picture of the ink part! I haven't done it yet, but I've thought about it. ;-)
