#inktober #inktober2015 - Day 12 - At the Races

Today was the day for the Damariscotta Pumpkin Regatta. The contestants made boats out of pumpkins and there were several kinds of races, solo with paddle, relay, and motorboats. The regatta was scheduled for 11:30 when the tide was high. In order to get a seat where we could see we were there at 10:30, which gave me lots of time to paint and sketch.

Here is my Inktober sketch for Day 12. This is a small part of the crowd watching the races.

So that you can get some idea of what went on here are some photos. I liked the solo and relay races best because their vehicles really were shaped like pumpkins, not boats.

And here is my painting I did while waiting for the regatta to start. There was a group that really got into the spirit with their orange pumpkin hats.

  1. Ah Joan - so glad you got some color into this post too. Love your ink drawings but it is nice to see those fall colors come alive on your paper too. This looks like a wonderful affair. Was it cold? At least it appears the sun was shining. Have a great day. Hugs! P.S. thank you so much for your visit. Always so glad when you stop by.
