Boats In A Row

I did this direct watercolor looking across toward Week's Boat Yard. I had to really simplify the maze of boats that I was viewing...many in the water and many on land.

 

Bayfront Shack

 The other evening I was looking for an inspiring scene and saw this red shack and umbrella just poking above the reeds in Sayville. I had to stand to do this direct watercolor because if I sat down the view was obscured. I think it was worth it.

Harbor Crab View

 The location for sketching with the Patchogue Sketch Club on Wednesday evening was across from Harbor Crab in Patchogue. Harbor Crab is a waterfront restaurant built on what seems to be a barge on one of the branches of the river in Patchogue. We had a great view and luckily a nice breeze to cool us on an unusually warm day.

 While I was in Sayville the other day I sat in the Land's End parking lot facing back toward the shore. This house must have such great views.

My Wednesday evening sketch group went down to the water in Sayville to paint on Wednesday night. I did a little of the view in watercolors and ink.
