Antique Store

 I've passed this antique store in Oakdale many, many times and have always thought about sketching it. The problem is it is in a strip mall, and there is never a good spot to sit and sketch it. When I passed the other day there were a few parking spaces across from the store so I backed my car in so that I was facing it. It was too cold to sit outside but using my "mobile studio" worked well. I was surprised at the amount of traffic that went through that door while I was there. Of course before I finished someone came out and moved things around and took a few items into the store.

Good Ground Antiques

 I took a ride out to Hampton Bays recently. I like looking for buildings that are not the typical strip mall shops. This one in Hampton Bays fit the bill. It is an antique shop.

Stonington, CT

#VirtualSketch visited Stonington, CT recently. It is a place I've wanted to visit but yet to get to. This gave me an easy way to do that. The building I sketched is actually an antique store. I always love buildings with awning...and striped made it even more special.

30 Day Challenge - Day 18 - Antiques

For my Day 18 painting for the "30 Paintings in 30 Days" Challenge I painted an antique shop in Hampton Bays. It was fun to include many of the items that were outside the shop. Again this was done in gouache with ink added.

In the Attic Too

I've passed this antique store on the north fork many times and wanted to sketch it. But there was no place to sit in my car to sketch it. The other day I discovered that if I sat up top int he parking lot of the animal clinic across the street I had a good view. Unfortunately the antique store was closed. Usually they have all kinds of treasures out front. I guess I will have to go back.
