Union Square Park

 Last Sunday my friend, Suzala and I took the LIRR into NYC to see the American Watercolor Society Show at the Salmagundi Club on 5th Ave. It was definitely worth the trip! There are always several people I know personally who have work in the show and I find works that are outstanding. It is good inspiration.

 Of course we brought along our art supplies so we could stop and sketch before going home. It was a really nice day, and Union Square Park was filled with people enjoying the sunshine and the wonderful trees and flowers that were in bloom. While we were painting we were entertained by a great musical performance by someone playing the xylophone. We found a good spot to sit with a table and chairs and captured the views.

  

We even got in some exercise as we walked from Union Square Park on 17th Street back to Penn Station on 33rd Street.

On Saturday morning I did a few sketches in Union Square Park. There was a Saturday market going on too.

Once again I couldn't change the size of the images on the iPad, so when my trip starts I will probably  have to upload the smaller images. I hope you don't mind.

Glad to see some of you respond with your favorites of the alcohol ink tiles I posted yesterday. Debi loved them and took all of them for the shop. I promised her more sunflower tiles when I get back.

Sketching in Union Square Park

My sister and I went into the city yesterday to see the AWS Show at the Salmagundi Club on Fifth Avenue. If you get a chance to go...do it! It is a wonderful art show.

I drove to her house in NJ and we took the train into the city. We were there early enough to have lunch and then do a few sketches from Union Square Park before we went to the show. I would have loved to do some sketches of the flower vendors but it was much too crowded over there. I wouldn't have been able to sketch without people knocking into me. So we walked around the other side of the park. I stood to do these two views looking out from the park.

We went back on the PATH train to Hoboken and had nearly an hour before our train was leaving. I never let time like that go to waste. I sketched the doors going out of the waiting area. (The rest of the waiting area was under reconstruction.)
