Sedona Reds

On Saturday the NYC Urban Sketchers had a virtual event visiting the red rock country of Sedona, Arizona. We had visited there quite a while ago an in person and the area is so beautiful. For this painting I used several different colors of ink, my watercolors, and then added some oil pastel for texture.

30 Paintings in 30 Days - Day 10 - Red Rock Blues

I'm in full swing in the "30 Paintings in 30 Days" with Leslie Saeta.
I'm also posting on Sea Dean's blog for the contest. Come and vote.

Today's piece was done from a photo I took in Sedona, Arizona. This is 5 x 7.

Red Rock Blues by Joan Tavolott

After lunching with friends in Sayville today I headed down by the water to sketch. I found this view in front of one of the restaurants on the water.

Time Away From Home - Part 3

Here are a few more paintings done for the "Time Away From Home" theme.

This was done from a photo taken at Sebago Lake when we used to go up there for vacation as kids.
It was rustic...but heaven!

I was in Hawaii only once and we visited Haleakala Crater for sunrise.
It was beautiful!

On a trip to Washington, DC I got to see a Calder exhibit at the National Gallery.
His mobile was in the lobby.

The red rock formations in Sedona, Arizona are just wonderful to see.
