Upstate Barn 1

Last week my sister, Mickey and I had paintings to pick up from an exhibition in Middletown. We always go out and sketch some barns afterwards. This barn is a favorite of ours and we sat in the car to sketch it. Usually there are cows either in the field or with their butts to us as they feed from the trough. This time there were no cows!!! I hope they were grazing somewhere else and haven't been sold. So many of these farms and barns have been disappearing up there.

Here is the link to the day 5 page in "Alicia's Aquarium Journal" that I have been doing.

Upstate Barn

On Thursday my sister, Mickey, and I headed upstate to pick up our paintings from the North East Watercolor Society show in Middletown. When we drive up there we usually stop and paint a scenic barn along the way. This one was in Florida, NY.

Red Barn and Silos

On Saturday my sister and I drove up to Middletown, NY to pick up paintings we had in the North East Watercolor Society's Member's Show. Afterwards we took a ride into Goshen to look for and sketch some barns in the area. We tend to sketch the same barns each time because they are the only ones we find that we can park near. lol I have painted this several times before but I decided to do it much closer this time. It was cold and damp so we sketched from my portable studio. This is about 5 x 7.

Here is the sketch with the scene I was painting. As you can see the barns were quite a distance away.

Mountain View Farm

On Friday I had to drive up to Middletown, NY to drop off my paintings for the North East Watercolor Society's Member's Show. The paintings were due last Sunday but I was still snowed in. Of course while I was up there I had to paint a barn. There are many scenic barns but very few of them that you can sit and paint at this time of the year without getting stuck off the side of the road. So I ended up doing one that I've done several times before. This is Mountain View Farm in Chester,  which I don't think is a working farm any longer. This is 5 x 7.

Morning Snack

Yesterday I had to drive up to Middletown, NY to drop off paintings. I always like going up there because of the scenery I pass along the way. There are some great farms just off the road. I have painted views of this dairy farm before, but I focused on the dairy cows this time. This was done in my Stillman & Birn journal.
