Lefty Lucy Returns

 After a short hiatus Lefty Lucy returned this week. Her headpiece and facial decorations went with her fawn theme...although the lovely gown and pearls I just couldn't connect. lol

30 x 30 Direct Watercolor - Day 24

My plein air group met at Lavender By the Bay in  Calverton on Tuesday. This was a new location for me...I've only been to their fields in East Marion. I'm not sure which I prefer since both are really scenic. I did my Day 24 30 x 30 painting there rather quickly, doing a mass of varied purple for the lavender out in the field.  

Wednesday Lefty Lucy posed. I missed her last session even though it was on my calendar...I just forgot by the evening. It was fun to sketch her again. Here are a few of my sketches.

Barely Recovered

 Lefty Lucy modeled for us on Tuesday night. She had been sick with covid since her last session with us a few weeks ago. She said covid itself wasn't bad (She had been vaccinated and boosted.) but has felt really tired ever since. She didn't look well...partly because she wasn't wearing makeup or a wig...but she had dark circles under her eyes. She was wearing her dino pjs. I can't imagine that carrying around that dino head for 2 hrs is easy. I hope she is feeling better.

Translucent Fabric

 This week Lefty Lucy posed in a sheer, translucent robe. It was fun to try to depict the fabric as it covered both her skin and her lingerie. Here are her longer poses.

Somehow I missed the last session when Lefty Lucy modeled. She no longer poses every week...only twice a month. But I was able to catch her this week dressed in a lovely outfit. It was a fun night.

Lefty Lucy in White

 Having Lefty Lucy's  sessions only twice a month makes me appreciate them even more. She was dressed so nicely in white this week.

Lefty Lucy

Lefty Lucy's posing schedule changed a bit. The plan was for her to pose on the first and third Tuesday of the month, but since she missed the third Tuesday she posed this week instead. After seeing the sketches I've done of her for nearly 2 full years, my friend, Ai from Thailand joined us this week. She was sketching at 7am her time before she went to work at her university where she teaches computer sciences. lol I don't know ir I would have the energy or the time to sketch before going to work, but it seems to have worked for Ai.

Lefty Lucy as Mother Time

 When Lefty Lucy posed this past week she said she was doing os in the spirit of "Mother Time," instead of Father Time. Whatever she was representing it is always fun to sketch her. Sadly due to other things coming up on her schedule she will be cutting back to just posing for us twice a month instead of every week. We can't complain since she has been doing this for free for nearly 2 years since Covid started. I enjoy her sessions a lot. I do hope that most of the people participating tip her well.

Christmas Dress

This week Lucy from "Let's Art with Lefty Lucy" was dressed in a lovely dress and was wearing a Santa hat and Santa Gloves. At times she was holding herself together because when she went to get dressed she realized that she couldn't zip up her dress without help. It zips under the arm and as she put it, she needed a third arm. I sketched her all put together...artistic license. She treated us to a stage wig that was black with purple highlights.

 

Casual Lucy

 For the first time since "Let's Art With Lefty Lucy" started she did not dress in costume. I liked the casual look but then the pants were just pants. I tended to ignore them. lol Her look was very monochromatic which I liked so I went with it.

Lefty Lucy from the Sea

 I believe this week's theme for Let's Art With Lefty Lucy was a bit of an underwater theme. It was an odd costume that she's worn before. The hoops are a bit difficult to sketch and I was worried that she might pop out of the top...but the only problems were technical. We were on Zoom and the image was blurry, the audio was off and before the 20 minute pose we lost the connection completely except for audio. Lucy instructed us to join her live on Instagram instead. That worked but we had no music. lol It was a difficult night for technology.

 On Wednesday I attended "Let's Art With Lefty Lucy" on Zoom. As always she was a great model.

Lefty Lucy Poses

 It has been a long time since I've been able to sketch Lefty Lucy. The storm that hit New Orleans a while back wrecked havoc on her apartment and the area was without power for a long time. Then she had a gig up in Provincetown and was gone for a bit. She returned to posing a few weeks ago but I wasn't able to get to do the Zoom sessions....but finally got there this Wednesday. It was great to be back! Her theme was some sort of clown.
