For the last few years my friend, Marge's husband, Dave has been giving us fish that he catches. My husband has been happily eating fresh striped bass and bluefish. I had planned on doing this painting as a thank you to him, but then Dave had surgery so I painted it sooner than I had originally planned. I did this as a get well/thank you gift for him. He was thrilled with it. I don't know if you can see it, but I used some iridescent medium in spots so there was a shimmer like scales.
Wow, that's some bass -- it looks very realistic! I do see the sparkle when I click to enlarge the image.
ReplyDeleteNice!! (And ewww, I hate fish! But you painted it gorgeously!)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Tina. It was quite a different subject to paint. lol
ReplyDeleteSherry, I think they are great subjects, but I only eat shellfish. Thanks.
Great idea to use the iridescent paint Joan. Very effective. Nice thought for your friend. Hope he is OK.
ReplyDeleteJoan I am sure your friend is going to love this. I enlarged it and could see the iridescent paint. Just super dear.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely gift. Love the fish and the iridescent medium makes it shimmer. cool!
