Oakdale Path

Yes, our snow is still around...due to the cold very little of it has melted. I found another path into a wooded area. This one is in Oakdale right off Montauk Highway.

Main Street East Islip

I love looking down the main street in small towns at the storefronts, buildings, churches, cars, etc. This was done along Montauk Highway in East Islip.

Today I sat in my mobile studio and did a sketch of the town of Islip looking West along Montauk Highway.

Bayport Flower House

Today the PALS plein air group met at the Bayport Flower House on Montauk Highway in Bayport.

We were lucky to be allowed inside as well as outside to paint, because it was cold and windy outside.

Inside it was downright balmy! I was so glad I hadn't put on my thermal underware because I was too hot. I said to Jeanne that I wanted to go get my bathing suit that was out in the car. Of course some of us were in the greenhouse and the sun was shining which just made it seem hotter.

Regardless, there were tons of poinsettias displayed in all colors. It was a bit overwhelming.

I painted it anyway, complete with this big poinsettia tree. I didn't know they grew into trees.

Here I am tucked down one of the aisles of poinsettias with my easel.

Jeanne was painting in the same greenhouse facing the other way.

Linda was inside the shop.

Mary was inside too. Chris was the only brave one who painted outdoors and I didn't get a photo of her today. Sorry Chris!

On Saturday I needed to get out and do a plein air, but it is still much too cold to sit outside. My handy car/studio worked well for this one. I sat along Montauk Highway near Shirley to paint this.

West Brook Pond

I did another "from the car" plein air. I sat on Montauk Highway in Oakdale near this pond which I think is part of West Brook Pond. I originally thought it was part of the Connectquot River, but not according to Googlemaps. The water along the banks was partly frozen and there was still a bit of snow on the ground. This is about 4 x 4.
