Window in Venice

Due to Hurricane Ida Lefty Lucy was unable to model. She is in New Orleans and they had no power after the storm...and I don't know when her power will be restored. That left me with a free evening and a desire to sketch. I looked through some photos on my computer and selected this one of a window in Venice. I used watercolors, ink, and white colored pencil in my Strathmore Toned Tan Sketchbook.

Flowers by the Window and Neocolor Sketches

This painting of hollyhocks by the window was done for the 30 x 30 Watercolor Challenge from a combination of images from my photos.

The last Wet Canvas Scavenger Hunt included a bottle and a glass. I wanted to use something a little different to sketch with and ended up using a box of Caran d'Ache' Neocolors that I hadn't ever used. They are watercolor based pigments that are in stick form. They were different to use because you really couldn't focus on details. Here is my Michelobe Ultra Bottle...

and my Stella beer glass.

30 x 30 Direct Watercolor - Day 18 - Sayville Window

We had a damp day today with drizzle and rain on and off. My plein air group didn't meet this morning but I went out to find a view for my Day 18 direct watercolor. Due to the rain I did this view in Sayville from my mobile studio.
