Planting Fields Arboretum #1

A few weeks back we had great weather and I visited the Planting Fields Arboretum in Oyster Bay a few times. The azaleas were starting to bloom. 

The NYBG - Part 2 The Azalea Garden

 The Azalea Garden at the New York Botanical Gardens is another great area for sketching. We took the tram to the area and walked back to this location we had seen in passing.

Show and Tell was starting at 3:00 so we raced from our location back over to the Conservancy where it was being held. Several people were nice enough to take photos of everyone. I think about 30 people were at the Show and Tell. It is always great to see what everyone else has sketched or painted during the day.

Azalea Garden

This week the NYC Urban Sketcher's theme is trees and flowers in bloom. Since I'm probably not getting out of the house in the near future due to taking care of my husband, I watched the NY Botanical Garden's video of their Azalea Garden to find an image to sketch. It isn't as good as being there in person, but it will have to do for now.

Suffolk County Farm Sketches

I made a trip to the Suffolk County Farm the other day. It is a good time of year to go because many baby animals are born around now.

First I sketched the cows who usually stay put while they are eating, but once they are finished have no loyalty to the artist sketching them. lol

Next I went over to sketch the sheep who were all clustered together by the shed. There was one baby included in the group.

The peacock had his feathers spread when I sat down, but that didn't last for long. Most of the feathers I had to do by memory.

Inside there were some baby goats that were just one day old. Mama goat was ignoring them for the most part, until I almost finished the sketch. Then she decided it was feeding time.

April 12 - Savannah, GA
