Here is another ink sketch done with a stick. The different edges of the whittled point give different textures. It is a fun way to work. This was sketched at The Grange in Sayville which has replicas of some historical buildings.

When I post the Inktober sketches I keep forgetting to also post the sketches/paintings I am doing in addition to the Inktober ones. My friend and I went out to Greenport which is on the tip of the north fork of Long Island. There is a nice area with a boatyard but it was just too windy to sit there. We decided to sketch houses instead. There are some great ones in the town.
Greenport is such a beautiful town....so much to do and I love the stores and galleries. A beautiful sketch and I love the second watercolor.... Nice color and shadows...
ReplyDeleteI'm really enjoying your experiments with the stick! I haven't used my twigs in a long time. .. You're inspiring me!

Thanks, Hilda. I need to go and walk around someday instead of just sketching and painting. lol
ReplyDeleteTina, thanks. I figure this is a good time to practice with them.
I like those “sticky” sketches. Lovely paintings, too.
ReplyDeleteThe "sticky" sketches are fun to do, Jo.
ReplyDeleteI really like your stick pieces Joan they are detailed yet looser - very cool. A very interesting house for your watercolour painting - good job!
