Yesterday was one of those dismal rainy days so sketching and painting outside didn't work. I had a lot to do to get ready for my upcoming shows, but by the evening I had to sit down and create something. This was done from a photo I had taken in the early fall at a farm stand.
This is about 4 x 4.
Lovely flowers! I guess it's that time of year when we all have to resort to indoor sketching. But I like your in-car sketching ideas... I'm going to have to look for more of those, too!
ReplyDeleteLovely composition with fresh and beautiful Spring colors !
ReplyDeleteLove this painting Joan. I can understand why you were 'drawn' (no pun intended!) to painting this, I would have been tempted to give it a go too.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful rustic piece! I don't see those old wooden bushel baskets much anymore. Filling it with flowers is inspired as is your painting.
ReplyDeleteTina - Thanks. I will still resort to sketching from the car most of the time.
ReplyDeleteJane - Thank you.
Ann - Thanks. Certain things just call out to be painted.
Sherry - Thanks one of the things I love about all the farm stands out here. They have such rustic displays. Thanks so much.
Dear Joan - this is my kind of bushel of joy - wish these flowers bloomed all year long...nice to sketch them when the day is rainy or snowy. I always enjoy the colors of yellow and lavender/purple together - wonderful compliments. Take care and have a great day.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE how you do these, Joan -- wonderful textures on the basket and lovely loose flowers! BRAVA!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful flowers! Love the basket too.
