View from The Forum at Columbia University

The NYC Urban Sketchers met at The Forum at Columbia University. Located at 125th Street and Broadway, The Forum is a unique community gathering space with an open atrium look with plenty of seating, tech tables for charging devices and is an ideal gathering spot. The space has huge windows making it easy to sketch the surrounding area. Right outside is the trestle for the #1 elevated train which I sketched here.

Huntington Train Station

Last Friday my friend Suzala and I met at the Huntington Train Station to sketch. She had come across this interesting trestle while riding with her husband. No matter what view I picked it meant sketching a few cars because we were in the parking lot of the station. We were parked in a "residents only" parking lot so we stayed close to our cars so we wouldn't get ticketed. Of course the parking meter person came along but after seeing what we were doing and talking to Suzala he didn't give us a hard time about the parking. He didn't stop and pose for us either. lol

30 x 30 Direct Watercolor - Day 12 - Train Trestle & Still Life

Today for my Day 12 Direct Watercolor I did a street scene along South Country Road in Brookhaven. The owner of the house that was to my immediate right came over to ask if he could help me. I explained that I was painting the scene and he said, "Oh, OK. I just was wondering why someone was sitting in front of my house."

Last night one of my art groups had their meeting. They have been having trouble finding models so they are doing still life setups instead. I thought this one was pretty interesting.
