This sketch was done along Bellport Lane looking from my mobile studio to a great house (#24). During most of the year it looks different because the hedges in front block a clear view of the house. I thought it was an interesting view looking through the mostly bare branches of the hedges.
I like sketching in Port Jefferson. Many of the buildings are on hills or slopes, so they are different to sketch. This house was right in the middle of town where the shops are. Of course it was uphill.
When I finished sketching inside the library I got in my car and realized I had a great view of this house across the street. I figured I would do just a quick sketch and then I started and realized how hard all the roof angles made this. I did it as quickly as I could because I was hungry...it was well past lunchtime.
