Assorted Sketches

Sometimes for the scavenger hunts on creativespark.art I do direct watercolors like this one of the seashell...

or this one of the jelly jar...

and this one of a bicycle.

Sometimes I just do a sketch of something fun. I was in Mattituck this week and came across NoFoDoCo, which is short for the North Fork Donut Company. With a name like that I just had to go in and of course got a treat. This Boston creme donut was delicious.
I hope you've enjoyed some treats recently!

Junk Food

As a theme this week the Patchogue Sketch Club worked on "Junk Food." Now I do believe that junk food is a misnomer...there is nothing junky about it and I believe it is more important than the basic food groups...or maybe it is the basic food groups. Yes, I can easily do without hot dogs, and maybe fries, but NOT pizza. Anyway, Mark provided reference photos for us to work from on Zoom. I had a few reference photos of my own since if I'm having a hotdog it has to have sauerkraut and mustard...not chili like his reference had. And I wanted to sketch real NYC pizza not something gourmet with spinach. The greatest travesty is that he left out dessert completely so I snuck a donut onto my page. If this doesn't make you hungry nothing will. lol

As one of our sketchers, Maureen Dunn posted the other night, "When Sketch Club meets for dinner—we all leave hungry."

Brooklyn Flea Market/Smorgasburg - Part 1

The NYC Urban Sketchers met at the Brooklyn Flea Market and Smorgasburg today. It moved to a new location since the last time we sketched there. It was fun with lots of subjects.

I started with a sketch of the creative area that was set up for the kids to play and create. There was a big roll of paper for the kids and piles of crayons. Some adults were very happy to sit there and color too.

Several of us were sketching from a table. Right nearby were some very tempting delights. I sketched the Ring Ding Bar. It looked so good and there were all kinds of flavors...the nutella was calling me but I resisted. Right next to the Ring Ding Bar was a donut stand with really outrageous items for consumption. I resisted all of them. Yea!
