One Week 100 People - Day 3

Today I went to the dining court at the South Shore Mall in Bayshore. I changed tables a few times to get different views. Here are my sketches #53 - 69.

Tonight was my sketch night with the Patchogue Sketch Club. When I finished my sketch for the theme tonight I sketched a few of our members. Here are #70 - 74.

Inktober 2020 Day 24 - Outdoor Display & Lighthouse

My Day 24 Inktober sketch was done of a display in front of a restaurant in Bayshore down by the water. It looked so nautical I had to sketch it.

Today the NYC Urban Sketchers had lighthouses as their theme. Of course, due to the pandemic most of the members used virtual images, although a few were able to do lighthouses that were local to their area. I picked the Old Point Loma Lighthouse in San Diego. I was there IRL when my sister was still alive when I spent many vacations out in San Diego. I don't think I sketched it at the time.

In Town at Ocean Beach

While we were in town in Ocean Beach we walked around an area that had shops and restaurants. Since there is no eating on the beach (yes, that is the rule in "The Land of No" which is the nickname for Ocean Beach) most people end up in town to buy lunch or snacks. It was fun to capture the buildings and some people there.

We stayed on Fire Island from about 10 am and left on the 3:30 ferry back to Bayshore. The line was already forming when we got to the ferry dock and this woman found a good way to wait for the ferry to pull in....that is until the line got too long and they moved everyone over to another area. When she picked up her beach materials I lost my model, but since I already had it sketched out in pencil it was easy to finish the sketch.

Oceanfront at Ocean Beach

Yesterday two friends and I took the ferry from Bayshore to Ocean Beach on Fire Island. I've wanted to go there for a while, so I was happy. We walked up and down the streets in the town looking at the different styles of beach houses and cottages. We climbed the steps and the boardwalk going over the dunes. The water was really rough yesterday and no swimming was allowed. We sat on the boardwalk over the dunes and I sketched these two small pieces.

Here is a short video I made of the waves.
