Every year I wait for the wisteria to bloom at the Bayard Cutting Arboretum. They used to have a lot of it at the back of the manor house, but it seems that every year they cut it back more and more. Apparently the vines were ruining the porch. This year there is one vine going up by the cafe door and this small amount along the other side of the porch. It still looks so pretty.
This is really gorgeous, Joan! The dark background really sets off the blossoms.
ReplyDeleteThanks. I had to do a lot of layers to get it dark enough.
DeleteAnother favorite Joan. Such beautiful flowers on this bush. I tried to do flowers yesterday.. another one in the trash. I’m not going to give up YET,,,,lol
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Hilda. Keep trying!!
DeleteOh so beautiful Joan and I bet it smells wonderful. I have never been able to grow it so it bloomed...I think too much shade. Have a super weekend. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteDebbie, thank you. I love how they look and always expect them to have a fragrance, but they really don't.
Deletelovely piece Joan. I often think about trying some Wisteria but worry about it damaging the house too - I wonder if it would be worth it!
ReplyDeleteIt seems to be one of those things that takes over and creates problems...but it look so pretty. Thanks, Val.
DeleteThis is a beautiful painting. There is a plant across the street but the blooms only lasted about a week this year and I missed sketching them. Thanks for your sketch/painting for me.
ReplyDeleteJo, glad I could paint them for you. lol They really don't seem to last for long so if I know they are in bloom I rush to get to them.
