Camellia House

My travels yesterday took me to the Planting Fields Arboretum in Oyster Bay. I wanted to go visit the camellia  house which is in bloom at this time of year. I took a few photos and then painted this view of one of the exits from the building. That way I got a bit of architecture and the flowers too. This was done in my Stillman & Birn 7 x 7 journal.

  1. Pretty! A little early for the flowers to be in bloom. They must be confused by this crazy winter.

  2. Both this and the last piece are wonderful Joan! I'm trying to decide if I am seeing a slight change in your painting style...But maybe not. Always lovely pieces that you do! And what a beautiful location in which you live!

  4. Mickey - Thanks. This is indoors. It is the largest collection of indoor camellias in the country and they bloom from Jan to March.

Sherry - Thanks so much. I guess our style is constantly changing.

Rose - You would love all the flowers. Thanks.
