Roosters

I must say that birds are NOT cooperative models. They are in constant motion. This was sketched at the Suffolk County Farm in Yaphank.

  1. Oh these subjects make me smile Joan...having grown up with chickens...I must say you did a lovely job capturing them in spite of them not staying still. Hope you are having a great day...cold and a few snow showers here...going to warm up mid-week. :) - Hugs!

    1. Thanks Debbie! The big, red rooster was so beautiful, but not cooperative at all. lol We had some rain the last two days and cold, windy weather today...with a few flurries. Hope you have a good week.

  2. I grew up with chickens, too. That's why I don't eat chicken unless it is the offering at a friends. I would never order it in a restaurant. On the other side I had a pet rooster named Peeper. Looked a lot like your sketch. I got him at the State Fair when they would give you a colored baby chick as a prize. I think they had died him purple. He would sit on my shoulder even when he grew up and come when called. What a pet! You sketch looks very natural. Love it.

    1. What a great story! I didn't know they made such good pets.
